» Bonded ADSL Guide

What is bonded ADSL?

Bonded ADSL takes advantage of multiple ADSL lines to create a single, high-speed connection to the internet. Through this process, multiple connections act as one and increase data throughput; enhancing capacity for faster, more reliable data transfer.

What are the benefits of bonded ADSL?

Bonded ADSL offers individuals and businesses a host of benefits. These advantages include more bandwidth, faster internet speeds and an internet connection with increased reliability. In addition, with ADSL bonding there is no dedicated copper to install, all hardware is included in the cost, and you can use your existing firewalls; bonded ADSL is hassle-free.

Increased bandwidth

Bonded ADSL ensures that internet users have a higher bandwidth, by bonding together multiple ADSL lines and creating larger internet 'pipes'. This is perfect business ADSL, as it means more data per second can be transmitted to a computer or network, through a virtual port made of several bonded connections.

Bonded ADSL speeds

Bonded ADSL can produce significantly faster speeds than a single ADSL connection. Bonded ADSL lines are able to produce upload speeds ranging from 1Mbps to 10Mbps and many operators promise speeds backed by an SLA; although at 99.9%, ours is one of the highest on offer.

Reliability in bonded ADSL

Data transfer in a bonded ADSL line is more reliable than in a standard connection. The nature of bonded ADSL - using multiple channels to communicate data - means the connection remains stable and available, even if a single link loses connectivity.

Many businesses also choose to improve their security by investing in a Hosted Exchange or VPN – both of which are provided by Managed Comms. These are particularly useful solutions for companies where employees work from home, work from different offices, or need to access their email accounts from anywhere.

Why choose bonded ADSL?

Bonded ADSL is perfect for those who require faster upload and download speeds. It is ideal for transferring large files, or for ensuring a reliable connection over a large distance. By using bonded ADSL, companies can enjoy unparalleled internet access, allowing them to increase their online efficiency. Bonded ADSL is also up to 50% cheaper than getting a leased line.

What bonded ADSL packages are available?

Companies and individuals have the opportunity to customise their bonded ADSL package, choosing the number of individual lines to be combined. On average, bonded ADSL customers tend to merge two or three separate connections. However, as upload and download speed is defined by the number of combined lines, businesses can choose to have up to 16 bonded lines as required.

Many operators offer a flexible package, allowing customers to change the number of bonded ADSL lines if their circumstances change. Managed Communications allows additional lines to be added at any time; we simply add the link to the MPV while the ADSL is provisioned on an analogue line, minimising downtime. This flexibility means you could increase your upload and download capacity if the size or nature of your business were to change.

What are the alternatives?

Bonded ADSL was conceived as a cheaper and easier alternative to leased line rental, which we also offer, and is similar to our SDSL services. As if that wasn't enough, we also offer Bonded ADSL MAX, which is bonded at both the IP layer and infrastructure layer, making it the next step in high-speed bonded ASDL.

Another relatively new alternative to business ADSL is Ethernet in the First Mile, or EFM. This improves business broadband speeds by working on the LAN and the short connection between the business and the local exchange; the good news is that it is also very easy to install.
