Leased line availability
Leased lines are available to a variety of different companies and organisations. However, Managed Communications is a business broadband provider, with services tailored to commercial users.
About leased lines
Leased Lines are one of the most secure and reliable ways to transfer data. It is a dedicated line which offers high-speed upload and download rates either to the internet or between multiple offices. It provides a cost-effective way to connect multiple offices to each other or to the internet when high bandwidth and reliability are essential.
Checking leased line availability
Leased lines are popular with a variety of different organisations and institutions. The service is available in a range of different specifications and speeds can vary depending on the needs of the subscriber. For example, our low-end packages include a 2Mbps connection for as little as £3,000 per annum, while bigger companies may want to invest in a 10Gbps leased line for around £6,000. Call us on 0800 075 4433 to find out more about pricing.
The installation of a service is organised by several qualified members of the Managed Communications technical team, and leased line availability is minimised to reduce the disruption during installation. The fee for leased line installation is very low, and the process is made much easier by the fact that we don't depend on BT for an exchange. This makes no difference to the services on offer, as latency-dependent applications such as VoIP or Citrix no longer require a BT connection. What's more, your business could save a lot of money, as customers regularly find a Managed Comms leased line connection to be 40 to 50 per cent cheaper than a BT one.
Leased line popularity
A number of high-profile companies have subscribed to a Managed Communications leased line connection. Organisations such as Nectar, the National Health Service and Welcome Financial Services have all benefited from a leased line connection.
This popularity can be explained by a number of different factors. Leased Lines from Managed Communications often cost 50 per cent less than those from other suppliers. This discount is possible because Managed Communications' leased line costs are based on bandwidth rather than distance.
Leased line availability check
Contact Managed Communications to discuss the leased line availability in your area. A trained member of the team will be able to answer any queries relating to the service, including questions about specifications, installation or leased line availability.
Leased line alternatives
Although a leased line is one of the best and most popular ways of ensuring a high-speed, secure and reliable internet connection for many businesses, there are some alternatives for where leased line availability is low. Here are just a few:
- Bonded ADSL: by bonding together 2, 3 or up to 16 circuits, your business could increase its broadband bandwidth by creating one wide data flow. Of course, the flow does not go to the public internet, but to a private Managed Comms multi-gigabit UK IP network. The installation of bonded ADSL is quick and painless, as is transferring your ADSL provider.
- Bonded SDSL: this is one of the only business broadband solutions available absolutely anywhere in the UK, but it does require hardware installation. As with leased lines, bonded SDSL customers benefit from increased upload and download speeds, a private network and fantastic customer support.
- ADSL MAX: In a step up from bonded ADSL, with MAX the bonding occurs at both the infrastructure and IP levels. Also available is ADSL MAX premium, which gives subscribing businesses traffic priority within the BT network.
Ethernet in the First Mile
When it comes to leased line alternatives, many businesses are beginning to think Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) could be a good business broadband solution. Whereas our other services intend to create a broad data flow between the LAN and our private Managed Comms network, EFM works on the connection between your business and the LAN.
As the name might suggest, this is the first mile of cable or line between your business and the local exchange. A large number of UK businesses can now benefit from this innovation, despite its relatively new status; all it requires is a 21CN exchange. No fibre, no leased line – just two to five copper pairs bonded to create a broad Ethernet connection, in the same way as business ADSL or SDSL connects two points.
EFM is a wise alternative to a leased line, with speeds of up to 10Mbps within 3km of an exchange. Due to the low cost of installation and hardware, EFM is also such good value it may surprise those who were intending to invest in a leased line. This type of connection is especially useful for VoIP, working with videos, or incorporation within a VPN for high-speed networking.
