Nene Housing Society - Case Study

Background

Nene Housing Society is a Registered Social Landlord (RSL) registered with the Housing Corporation, and is an exempt charity.

The Society is the largest locally based RSL in Peterborough and operates in the East Midlands and East Anglia and provides a range of social housing for people in housing need.Nene Housing Society Ltd has its main office in Peterborough and four smaller offices in Nottingham, Paston, St Ives and Cambridge as well as a number of warden/residents centres.

The Challenge

Nene Housing Society wanted a future proof cost effective managed network that could handle Voice over IP and integrate with their new parent company. Nene also had a fragmented managed VPN across a number of different suppliers that they wanted to migrate to a single managed infrastructure.

The Solution

Managed Communications used IPSec based technology to implement a managed network and managed hardware VPN solution. A combination of managed DSL and DSL MAX was deployed offers site bandwidth speed of up to 8Mbps. At key sites resilience was added with SDSL bonding technology. Managed Communications installed and configured hardware for all VPN sites and allowed static routing for bespoke requirements from Nene.

The Benefits

The solution has provided Nene Housing Society with better internet services, a robust Voice over IP VPN and the ability to add wardens, resource centres and home workers in as little as 5 working days. It has saved the company money and also allowed for seamless integration into Nenes parent company. The solution allows for the network flexibility required in a sector where M&A activity is buoyant.
