» Business ADSL ideal for home workers
Wednesday, January 27 2010Growth of business ADSL motivated by increased numbers of home workers
Business ADSL is ideal for those choosing to work from home according to one leading telecommunications expert.
Speaking to the Scottish publication The Press And Journal, the industry commentator said there were a growing number of individuals choosing to subscribe to a business ADSL package, rather than opt for a standard broadband connection. He said the shift away from typical broadband services was thought to have been motivated by a number of factors including superior speeds and increased reliability.
"[Business ADSL] solutions for the home and fibre-based solutions for the office would be ideal for a home-working set-up," he argued.
"These offer download and upload speeds nearly three times faster than your standard broadband connection."
The industry professional went on to state many home workers were choosing a business ADSL connection due to unreliable and slow broadband lines. He added that a low-cost business line offered multiple advantages for those working from home.
"Existing services (e-mail traffic, web browsing, downloads and uploads) will be quicker, with newer services on the internet, such as video streaming, becoming more accessible."
The number of individuals choosing to work from their home has grown substantially. A 2008 report by the Trades Union Congress (TUC) found that nearly one in eight UK employees conduct business from their residence. It is thought this figure has increased to almost one in four in 2010. The growing trend is said to be inspired by the desire for organisations to reduce office space and rental costs.
