» Peters Foods sign 15 site MPLS deal with Managed Communications! - March 2009

Thursday, August 20 2009

When one of the UK’s largest chilled food manufacturers and distributors received a renewal quote for their existing leased line MPLS network from BT they decided it was time to search for alternatives.

A simple Google search brought them to Managed Communications and they have never looked back. Their network is made up of distribution depots and key regional sites and the operation is 24/7 with stock data held on handheld devices and money collections made over the WAN. Resilience was the key word for the project – reducing cost was also an added incentive.

After a full consultation a high bandwidth triple Bonded ADSL Max Premium solution was chosen at head office creating a lightning fast connection with diverse routing and auto failover inbuilt by design.

For the 10 distribution depots low contention ADSL Max Premium links were chosen. All of this was tied together as a fully managed VPN solution using Cisco ASA firewalls. Managed Communications also installed a completely separate back-up network with auto failover enabled via the firewalls, thus providing cover against any loss of connectivity on the primary links.

Two Networks, fully managed state of the art hardware, a 1:1 core network, 24/7 support and monitoring combined to meet every key criteria saving circa 40% against the renewal quote and offering increased bandwidth at every site into the bargain – easy to see why Peters Foods chose Managed Communications as their preferred supplier!

The network architecture utilises everything Managed Communications offers to great effect; bonding, auto failover, diverse routing, resilience, a managed VPN, Enhanced support and pro-active monitoring and as such is regarded as a flagship solution.
