EFM leased line guide

Ethernet in the First Mile

A traditional leased line will use a fibre to connect your office with the local exchange. However, with an EFM leased line, that connection is made from bundles of copper pairs; this makes installation much quicker and easier, and makes it a cheap alternative to a traditional leased line. However, the high resilience and 99.9% Service Level Agreement are just the same as a normal Managed Comms leased line.

EFM takes business broadband to the next level, as it supports VoIP and VPNs, as well as offering a high-speed internet connection. Speeds of up to 10Mbps can be achieved within 3km of an exchange, which is where your EFM reaches the traditional leased line. This connection is symmetric, meaning upload and download speeds are the same; it also boats zero contention, so the traffic of your business gets absolute priority for the entire length of its journey.

EFM leased line alternatives

For businesses, an EFM leased line is a viable alternative to Bonded ADSL, SDSL and DSL. These technologies use a pre-configured router to bond together the ADSL or SDSL connections, creating one high-speed broadband connection. Managed Comms owns a private multi-gigabit UK IP network, so bonded ADSL and similar products will certainly boost your broadband performance; however, in some circumstances bonding can have limitations.

EFM leased lines are available in exchanges across the UK, boast lower costs and quicker installation than many options; it's easy to see why those in the know are calling this the future of business broadband.
