Bonded DSL offers a cost effective alternative to leased lines as well as the upstream bandwidth required for applications such as voice over IP (VOIP), web hosting or Citrix.
What is Bonded DSL?
Bonded DSL involves using a hardware device to combine several DSL circuits - for instance:
2 x DSL MAX circuits (800Kbps upstream 8000Kbps downsteam) could be bonded to provide 1.6Mbps upstream and 16Mbps downstream providing an attractive alternative to a 1Mbps leased line.
or
2 x SDSL 2Mbps circuits could provide a bonded DSL 4Mbps upstream and 4Mbps downstream bandwidth providing an attractive alternative to a 4Mbps leased line.
What are the benefits of Bonded DSL?
Bonded DSL increases the physical throughput speed of the circuit - it is not simply load-balanced. So if you were to use 2 x 2Mbps circuits to create 4Mbps speed you would see throughput of circa 4Mbps for large file sizes.
Our SLAs offered are 99.9% availability so offer a real alternative to leased lines.
Bandwidth hungry applications such as VOIP and video conferencing are perfectly suited to the benefits of bonded DSL.
It allows for double upload speed and double download speed.
Many customers use bonded DSL at their head office site and at key sites, where there may be a large number of users, the need for added resiliency or heavy bandwidth applications such as VOIP.
Why use Bonded DSL?
Commercially, bonded DSL is an attractive options compared with leased lines; bonded DSL can offer annual operational savings in excess of 50% over and above leased lines.
Bonded DSL also means you can improve the speed of your current business broadband service where SDSL is not yet enabled. Many VOIP customers rely on bonded DSL in their network at at least 1 site to deliver the necessary bandwith to maintain voice quality on calls.
